Probably fear of a violation

@GiovAntaa lol

for what lmao

vios cant just happen like that

If they were in a holding pattern, that suggests that the airspace was controlled. If the controller happened to see a near midair collision like that, they would probably issue a violation to the responsible pilot. In this case, @GiovAntaa. He probably knew he was at fault, and was worried he would receive a violation for, it so he disconnected.

devs should add TCAS atp

I’m Very sad to say that he was told to hold at FL130 but he decided hold for 2 mins at 140
Sorry man for that unexpected collision (at least took a nice shot XD)

oh u was the approach controller lol

Yes mate lol

still we need TCAS with this one fr

That is So Cool

Yes men I’m so sorry for this happened, i want to apologize.
I decide to climb to 14000 ft because I was only 500 ft above a mountain under my holding pattern.
That said it won’t happen again.
Peace :grin:

This makes me curious. IFATC doesn’t take nearby topography into account and there’s no way of seeing whether there’s a nearby mountain without looking at a real life map of the airport surroundings. the only actual reference to altitude AGL is the airport’s altitude. @GiovAnta made the right call by ascending to fl140 to avoid terrain, however a request for altitude change should’ve been made. clearly the controller did not know that there was a mountain ~500ft below their holding pattern. or am I missing something?

no. you’re correct!, the pilot made the right decision but in wrong way bcoz Controllers also need to stay fully aware of what aircraft are doing, and since i know that MMMX has danger mountains, a climb request is a big prove for me that the aircraft is about to crash.

plus, IFATCs are trained to understand the terrain around the airports they manage. They carefully plan ahead before taking on the responsibility of controlling in high-risk areas like MMMX

should have requested altitude change
