“Check Tutorials”

I would like to know where I was wrong to receive the message “check tutorials …” and what I have to do (or not do) to improve my performance when I connect with the tower and avoid this type of message !!

Hi, you actually need to contact @Raidon23, he is tower. I am only on ground/

If I’m not mistaken It was a mistake because I was behind you and got the same message. I did the same thing u did as far as switching to tower and requesting runway 33r and was told 2check tutorials.

It appears that you were handed off from an approach controller, so the proper way to call in would be “AAR3004, inbound on the XX”

the XX is inbound on the ILS, GPS or Visual.

saying you are inbound for landing, isnt correct when you have approach!

edit: please also see above @Ahmad_Brewster, that is the incorrect way to call into tower after being handed off from approach.

Unless of course he requested radar vectors. :)

He is right, you can only say inbound for landing if you asked for vector and approach put you on pattern. But you were vectored to ils approach. The correct way “you are on the ils for xx runway” you can use you are on visual for xx, if you requested approach for visual approach.

Wow I’ve never new that I gotten check the tutorial maybe twice when handed off to tower from approach and just assumed it was accident out of the 1,500 landing. Cause thats the way I’ve always done it. So now I know thanks mwe218

This is true and a WHOLE 'nother subject ha. i think 75% of the people that ask for radar vectors dont realize what that means as well

There are a lot of conflicting answers here, so here’s the deal:

If no Approach, only tower:

  • Call “inbound for landing”

If Approach…

And you’ve been vectored for ILS:

  • Call “inbound on the ILS”

And you’ve been given visual approach:

  • Call “inbound on the visual”

And you’ve be FF or RV:

  • Call “inbound for landing”

You were vectored for an ILS approach, so you should have called “inbound on the ILS.”

If you asked approach for radar vector and he put you on pattern, wouldn’t be the call to tower “inbound for landing/touch an go”? Unless tower already clears you for option?

It was a gps approach;)

Yea if you ask an approach for radar vectors they will send u off in the pattern, and you can call “inbound for landing/touch and go”

Yes I was generally trying to explain all lot…not only for this instance …hope they won’t get confused. :D

You can add touch and go to any of the call ins. The base call in doesn’t change though. You can call inbound on the ILS touch and go if you wish. As long as you were ILS to start with.
