Chance of Spawning with a Special Livery

Hey!
So I had a random thought as I was scrolling through the community, and thought it was worthy enough for me to request it. This is my first feature request, so you know…

The Idea
There is a large number of “Special Livery” requests in the #features topic, asking for well known liveries and not so well known liveries. As much as I love these liveries, I just can’t hit that “Vote” button. Why? Because they are “Special Liveries”. If they are added in the game, many people would be flying them, which is seriously unrealistic when there might only be a couple aircraft (sometimes only one) painted in that livery on the planet.
So…what if everytime we spawned in a certain aircraft and airline, there was a chance that we’d spawn in with a special livery of that airline on that specific aircraft?

Let’s Elaborate a Bit
Here’s how this would work. The probability that we would spawn with that special livery would a be realistic probability. This means that depending on how many aircraft there are IRL in that livery, there would be the same chance of us spawning in with it

Example
Let’s look at the probability of spawning in the well known FC Barcelona livery on a Qatar 777-300ER.

Qatar has 1 77W in the FC Barcelona livery out of their 39 77Ws which is 2.6% of their 77Ws.
This would mean that every time you hit “Fly” with a Qatar 77W, you would have a 2.6% chance of spawning with the FC Barcelona livery.

I know this would be tough to do with all aircraft and airlines, but with so many special livery requests, I think it’s the best way to incorporate them into the game without there being an unrealistic amount of them flying in IF.

Also, it would add a nice surprise everytime you switch to outside view after spawning and boom, you’ve got yourself a special livery for your flight.

Edit: As an after thought, if this were to be implemented, they may have to add a new rule to prevent people from spawning over and over to get a certain livery. Perhaps only being able to spawn three times in five minutes.

This sounds good, but would be hard to implement, I think. This is probably the best way to have just 1 person flying a special livery.

It definitely would be a larger project, but I wouldn’t mind if they started with more popular special liveries first and worked steadily forward.

This would be a great feature although, it would take time to fully implement this. Unfortunately, I’m out of votes :(

Another idea that cold possibly be added to this is the ability to turn it off if you DON’T want to fly with a special livery. You’re then guaranteed the normal livery.

Definitely! Though I wouldn’t see why anyone would want to turn it off. It would be a rare chance to spawn with a special livery, and I’d love the surprise factor as well as the “special” feeling throughout the flight 😀

Ok, but hear me out here. Southwest has tons of special liveries. Say you want to fly from DEN-MDW. Southwest would never use say “Shamu 1” on this route. So here’s my next request, select liveries that you DON’T want randomly generated for you. That way if you get a special livery, it’s still realistic. Instead, you could fly on “Colorado 1” or “Illinois 1”

Cool idea, but if this feature were to come it should come with a nice batch of special livery’s for the existing aircraft’s in the game because atm there aren’t too many tbh…

That’s true, but at the same time, we don’t want to complicate things in terms of selecting which livery you don’t want, etc for each airline and aircraft. In my opinion, if it is unrealistic, just spawn out and in again. 😀

Very true, won’t be something quick. Although, @ schyllberg mentioned in the Shamu Southwest livery thread that the Shamu livery has been sitting in their inventory for sometime. Who knows what else they have in there.
Hopefully this can give them a chance to bring out any already completed liveries and fulfill the many special livery requests! 😁

I agree, they may have alot of special liverys just sitting around waiting to be implemented, time will tell.
