I was hearing a loud rumbling in the distance even though I seen nothing in the radar, suddenly this huge thing appears in the sky, I snatched my phone and made a quick shot (not top notch but anyways) I saw that it was leaving some trail behind and it’s probably out of the Fliegerhorst Holzdorf.

Nice! When the V-22 Osprey was grounded a few months ago, the presidents helicopter escort was switched from the configuration of 2 Marine Ones (type varies on trip type) and 3 follow helis for press, secret service, security, family, and other important members. During the grounding, they switched to using some Navy Super Stallions. 3 of these things flying together had a crazy sound. They are beasts. Really cool you got the chance to spot one.

The Luftwaffe is with Iran and israel the only operator of the CH-53 in the world, but it won’t be anymore because the repair parts are not available anymore. It will be retired by 2030 and will be replaced by the CH-47 Chinook.
