CFI initial checkride

I’m getting ready for a CFI checkride, what are somethings you wish you would have known, or parts I should emphasize? Also did you make your own lesson plans?

Any information would be helpful for me as well, about to start commercial and then do CFI CFI-I and maybe even my MEI

Currently still going through CFI class but someone at my school bought the WiFi CFI program and shared it with all of us 🐐

So I’d say, know how to make them but if you want to use prepared plans, that’s fine as long as you know what you’re talking about and the plans are good.

I would recommend making your own lesson plans. You learn a lot in the process of developing them. The CFI initial checkride is not just a pilot checkride, it is an teaching checkride. Study the FOI’s and know them solid, preferably without having to reference written material.

there are many good resources out there on Youtube and other websites on effective lesson plans and templates. For FOI’s, I studied Todd Shellnutt on Youtube. He broke down the FOI’s into a way i could understand them easier.

STUDY. THE. ACS!!!

Everything you need to know is there. take particular care to the required testing sections. For example, a DPE is required to ask certain tasks, others are optional.
