This is probably going to be my last long-haul until 24.4 drops. Cathay Pacific’s longest flight, between New York-JFK and Hong Kong, is one of the few to see service from all three of the airline’s long haul aircraft each day. CX843 is operated by an A350-900 in the very early morning, CX841 is operated by an A350-1000 around 9:00 A.M. Eastern, and CX831 is operated by a 777-300ER in the early to mid-afternoon. Today we’ll be flying first class on the lattermost flight.

Walking down to our plane at Terminal 4. Our seat will be one of 6 in first class today, one of the most comfortable seats out there. It needs to be, since we’re expecting to spend 3/4 of a day airborne.
Holding short of JFK’s longest runway immediately prior to departure
Heavy takeoff for Hong Kong
Turning north with the airport and New York City fading into the distance
Dinner is served just after sunset over Baffin Island
Being this far north at this time of year means the possibility of a mid-air with Santa Claus, although I doubt there’d be much left of him and his reindeer after getting sucked through a GE90-115B
Second sunset of our flight over the steppes of Mongolia
Finally, we’re here in Hong Kong
The flow never stops, as passengers are already coming to the gate for our aircraft’s next flight to Mumbai
