I’d like to suggest adding the Canadair CL-415 to Infinite Flight.
The CL-415 would be a really interesting addition because it would bring a completely different type of flying to the simulator. It’s an amphibious firefighting aircraft, so it could be used for operations that we don’t currently have many possibilities to recreate in Infinite Flight.
One of the coolest features would obviously be the ability to scoop water from lakes, reservoirs or the sea while flying at low altitude, then return to the fire area and drop the water. This could make firefighting missions much more interactive and give players something different to do besides normal passenger, cargo, or military operations.
The aircraft can carry around 6,000 litres of water, so it would be really interesting if this could actually be represented in the simulator. The player could fill the tanks by performing a water scoop and then use that water to fight a fire.
Dynamic firefighting system
This could potentially be one of the most unique features of the aircraft.
It would be really cool if Infinite Flight could have visible fires on the ground, especially in forested or rural areas. The fire could contain animated flames, smoke and a visible affected area.
The CL-415 could then be used to actually fight the fire:
Find the fire from the air.
Approach the affected area at low altitude.
Scoop water from a nearby lake, reservoir or the sea.
Return to the fire.
Open the water-drop system.
Release the water over the flames.
See the flames and smoke decrease or disappear depending on how accurately the water is dropped.
Return to the water source and repeat the process.
It would make the water load more than just an animation. The approximately 6,000-litre capacity could become an actual gameplay mechanic, with the amount of water available decreasing after each drop.
For example, a player could arrive at a fire with a full load, make one drop, see the fire partially reduced, and then have to return to the water source to refill before making another drop.
This could also allow several CL-415s to work on the same fire, with different players coordinating their approaches and water drops.
Water scooping
The water scooping system would be one of the most important features of the aircraft.
When approaching a suitable body of water, the aircraft could enter the appropriate configuration and lower the scooping probes.
The player would then skim across the surface while the tanks fill.
It would be great to have:
Visible water being picked up.
Water spray around the aircraft.
Realistic contact with the water surface.
A filling indicator showing the amount of water onboard.
A full-tank indication once the aircraft has completed the scoop.
The ability to abort the scoop if the aircraft becomes unstable or the player climbs away.
The aircraft could then return to land or continue directly towards the fire.
Aircraft model and animations
For the 3D model, I think the CL-415 would benefit from a high level of detail, especially because it is such a distinctive aircraft.
Some details that would be great to see:
Detailed CL-415 exterior.
Accurate amphibious hull.
Detailed wings and engine nacelles.
Functional landing gear.
Animated water scooping probes.
Animated propellers.
Detailed flaps and control surfaces.
Working rudder and elevators.
Detailed water-drop doors/system.
Rotating propellers with realistic animation.
Visible water spray while scooping.
Water effects underneath the aircraft.
Detailed antennas and exterior equipment.
Accurate firefighting markings.
Working navigation, landing and beacon lights.
The aircraft should also be capable of operating from both conventional runways and water, which would make it much more versatile than a normal land-based aircraft.
Sounds
The sound design could also make a huge difference.
I think it would be great to have sounds based on the real CL-415, including:
Characteristic twin turboprop engine sounds.
Propeller sounds changing with power.
Engine start-up and shutdown.
Landing gear sounds.
Flap movement.
Water scooping sounds.
Strong water spray during the scoop.
Water-drop sounds.
Cockpit alerts and warnings.
Different engine sounds depending on power settings.
The water scoop in particular could have a really distinctive sound, because it would make the aircraft feel very different from anything else in Infinite Flight.
Cockpit
The cockpit should also be highly detailed.
The CL-415 has a very distinctive cockpit, so I think it would be great to reproduce it as accurately as possible, including:
Pilot and copilot seats.
Flight controls.
Instrument panel.
Engine instruments.
Radios.
Navigation equipment.
Water-system controls.
Firefighting controls.
Warning lights.
Realistic cockpit lighting.
There are even real-world references showing the CL-415 cockpit.
43 Grupo / Spanish Air Force liveries
One of the first liveries I would really like to see would be the 43 Grupo del Ejército del Aire y del Espacio.
Other livery suggestions
There are also many possibilities for other operators.
Some liveries I think would fit particularly well include:
Sécurité Civile – France
The French CL-415s would be a great addition because of their distinctive yellow-and-red firefighting scheme and their frequent involvement in European wildfire operations. Current photo databases also show multiple French CL-415s operating in 2026.
Vigili del Fuoco – Italy
The Italian CL-415s would also be an excellent choice, especially for Mediterranean firefighting operations.
Hellenic Air Force – Greece
The Greek CL-415/CL-415GR aircraft would give the aircraft another distinctive military firefighting livery.
Croatian Air Force
Croatia is another major CL-415 operator and would be a very appropriate European livery.
Other possibilities could include Canadian operators and other international firefighting organisations.
There are real CL-415 operators in countries including Canada, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Croatia and Morocco, giving plenty of possibilities for additional liveries.
Firefighting missions
Another idea could be to introduce specific firefighting scenarios.
For example:
Mission 1 – Find the fire
The player receives a location and has to locate the fire using the aircraft.
Mission 2 – Water scoop
The player has to find a suitable lake or reservoir and perform a successful water scoop.
Mission 3 – First drop
The player takes the full load to the fire and drops the water accurately over the flames.
Mission 4 – Multiple drops
The fire is larger and requires several water loads.
Mission 5 – Multi-aircraft operation
Several CL-415s operate together, allowing multiple Infinite Flight players to participate in the same firefighting operation.
This could make the aircraft much more than just another aircraft in the hangar. It could introduce an entirely new type of operation to Infinite Flight.
Dynamic fire effects
If technically possible, I think this would be one of the coolest additions:
The fire should actually react to the water.
For example:
Large flames, water drop , smaller flames , less smoke and fire extinguished.
The fire could also spread slowly if players take too long to respond, although this would obviously depend on what is technically possible within Infinite Flight.
Different sizes of fires could also require different numbers of water drops.
A small fire might require only one or two drops, while a large wildfire could require many aircraft and multiple loads of water.
Realistic water operations
The aircraft could also be particularly fun around places such as:
Spanish reservoirs.
Mediterranean coastlines.
French lakes and coastal areas.
Italian lakes and coastline.
Greek islands.
Croatian coastline.
Canadian lakes.
This would give players a reason to explore areas that aren’t normally used much during regular airline operations.
Final thoughts
I think the Canadair CL-415 would fit Infinite Flight extremely well because it offers something completely different from the usual passenger and cargo aircraft.
It isn’t just another aircraft that you fly from one airport to another. It could introduce:
water scooping + amphibious operations + low-level flying + firefighting + dynamic fires + water drops + specialised missions.
The possibility of carrying around 6,000 litres of water, scooping it from a real body of water and then using it to actually fight a visible fire would make the aircraft especially unique.
And I also think that there could also be events of fire extinguising very often in the game in the expert and have and ATC that controls the lakes the seas and the rivers like an airport, clear for approach to the lake and similar to the frequencies that we have right now in the game
