I read the rules regarding the requirements to be an IFATC, and I think I read something regarding losing your IFATC permit. Once you have been approved, what would cause you to lose your permit?
If a controller is issued a Level 2 or Level 3 Violation whilst operating as a pilot, an IFATC Moderator will initiate a review of the session to determine if the Violation is to be upheld or removed. Excessive Violations or total lack of regard for rules may result in IFATC suspension or permanent removal
There are two cases that I know of:
- Inactivity : you will be removed after 90 days of inactivity
- Bad controlling : if supervisor realise that the service you offer is subpar what is expected of a trained IFATC controller, you can lose your IFATC permissions, either for a certain amount of time, or lose them definitively.
edit:
- An IFATC controller must not receive any controller-issued violations when flying, this will revoke their IFATC privileges
What about inactivity?
Thank you!
Generally, abuse of the increased privilages IFATC controllers get (violation privilages) can result in removal from IFATC, as well as complete disregard for the rules controllers have
Ok. Also what is the difference between radar and a controller?
Controllers have 2 different types of ATC stations they can staff, local and radar
Local frequencies = Ground, Tower, ATIS frequencies
Radar frequencies = Approach, Departure, and Center frequencies
When you join IFATC you begin with local frequencies. Radar requires extra training and testing before controllers can staff those frequencies
I see.
One last thing. How does the ATC control ATIS
When opened, ATIS is laid out with different selection options for runways in use, advisory messages, and instrument procedures to include in the readout.
I see. Thank you so much
