Can I get a Violation while in Autopilot+?

… or to be more precise: In case I run out of fuel, while in AP+ and plunge in overspeed into the ground, will I get vios?

It never happened to me yet, but my record is still clean and I like to keep it that way.

I don’t think so.

I once tried it and overspeed my plane by 10 so knots over and then turned on AP+. Came back an hour later and I got no violations relating to speeding.

But that’s my experience. So it could be different for others.

Nope. You won’t get any violations while in AP+.

Thank you :folded_hands:

You shouldn’t, no.

One of the criteria for AP+ is “no active warnings”, so as soon as you start overspeeding, AP+ will just stop and reset you to the point before that happened for you to resume.

In fact, some of the other requirements are that all engines must be running and the altitude must be stable at >FL280. So if you ran out of fuel, again you wouldn’t meet the criteria for AP+ again, before you even got near a violation.

Plus, it will pause 30 mins before your destination anyway, so unless you put way too little fuel on, you’re unlikely to run out.

If you run out of fuel, you will no longer be able to resume your flight, so don’t let it do that!

I’ll try to  I’m planning another equatorial flight. I already did one, to check how long I can fly with an A350 and started at Singapore along the equator, westbound to Libreville, Gabun which is also on the equator and then Quito, Equador and further again to Singapore. I had to make a stop in Quito to refuel. With only around 36.000kg fuel / ~6 hrs flight, I wouldn’t have made it over the Pacific to Singapore, so I was a bit worried to come back and see me crashed with a vio.

That was a 44 hour flight, with only 70 well paying passengers for this exclusive equatorial trip
