The Hercules, which first flew in 1954, is the longest-running aircraft in production in history.
Since then, more than 2,500 units have been produced for around 70 military operators in tactical transport, search and rescue, air refueling and many other versions. The C-130 J, the most recent model, was still in production in 2015.
The FAB received a total of 29 units of the C-130E (8), SC-130E (3), C-130H (16) and KC-130H (2) versions, which underwent two upgrade programs. It is expected that the FAB Hercules will be replaced by the larger and faster Embraer KC-390. The MUSAL model is FAB-2453, a C-130E modernized to the C-130H standard. It was incorporated in 2014.
