Bug report VOR directions

Can anyone tell me why I have different directions to the VOR? Nav1 and Nav2 are set to the same VOR but show 2 different directions “251 / 236” but the same distance?

My guess is that one’s true (geographic) heading and one’s magnetic heading.

I believe this is a known bug. They should be identical.

Im new here. Do you know were i can report the bug?

Hey there!

You’re seeing different directions because the course set for NAV1 and NAV2 is different. Even though both are tuned to the same VOR, they’ll show different bearings if the course settings don’t match. Set the same course on both and the directions will line up.

Think of it like this. You want to go to the McDonald’s in town, but the GPS gives you the highway route and the urban route. Same place, different direction.

That… doesn’t make any sense. The bearing is a straight line to the VOR and the navaid won’t move anywhere if you change your navigation settings.

The VOR signal doesn’t change, but the course you set affects what direction the instrument displays. That’s why NAV1 and NAV2 can differ, and most times they do.

Try testing if what you say is true.

@D607DA42 Welcome!

The category is changed to support.

This is not correct. When you tune the OBS on each of the NAV, it changes the CDI for each component, but what OP is asking is the bearing to the station. Regardless of your OBS course, the bearing should be the same for both NAV1 and NAV2 when they are tuned to the same station.

It dos not make meaning. The vor 1 and vor 2 is tuned to same vor. And det instrument bearing and setting is set to the same heading. Vor 1 and 2 is set up at the same way. If i fly to vor 1 (251) i miss my point. In other fs game there is not that problem. I support it is a bug. But thank for your answer.

To morrow i make i guide so the test is the same and if you will test it will be greath.

It really depends on the course they’ve set. If improper, NAV1 and NAV2 don’t correlate.

Yeah, I did test it, and I see what you mean. I wasn’t directing that comment at you but at @N0tt_Frost

when I look at edit it shows who I replied to

I don’t know why it doesn’t get displayed as such.

I don’t need to test it, the reason they differ is because of the course settings and the different radial from the VOR.

@D607DA42 If you wish to treat it like a bug, go ahead, but it’s just a small wrong imput in the navigation. They just track different radials, and 9 times out of 10, they won’t ruin anything.

I navigate whit vor and this difference get me far out of cource and an incorrect location. I change the headline to “report bug”. Hope the support team see the problem. Thank you and good day. :slightly_smiling_face:

This is definitely a bug. I believe the magnetic variation is not being applied, so NAV2 shows your true course when it should show magnetic.

I tested this at KSFO, which has a magnetic variation of ~13°E. I saw a bearing for NAV1 of 35 degrees, and NAV2 of 48 degrees.
