We’re busy calculating this, and we’ll let everyone know once it’s been verified. Quite an achievement for whoever managed it!

Eleven and a half years flown within the skies of Infinite Flight. Countless more memories made. Now we’re proud to announce that the BAVA pilot that filed the 100,000th flight hour for BAVA, as announced live on Saturday from London Heathrow, was BAVA167, @A_Hippopotamus.

What an achievement to log the 100,000th hour at British Airways Virtual, done so by one of our highest ranking pilots. We’re so proud and honoured to have made it this far with so much praise and respect, and can’t wait to see just how many more barriers we can break as our pilots continue to take us further.

It was great to see everyone last Saturday, as we descended on London Heathrow’s Myrtle Avenue for a day of spotting, sightseeing, meeting and greeting, and oh, did we mention spotting?

With upwards of 10 BAVA pilots present, it was great getting to know everyone, and we’re looking forward to the next events in our calendar.

BAVA Staff Members including @Adam_Williams, @BenTyson and @Chris_Wing were present to further promote BAVA, and we had a great time getting to see all the members of the community who were there, alongside the wonderful Cameron and Misha, whom we’d like to extend our gratitude to in organising the event.

We even managed to sneak some looks into what may be coming next for Infinite Flight very soon!

A fantastic day was had by all.

Where next? Some lucky BAVA representatives will be jetting off to 2019 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in July this year!

Stay tuned to our social media for some live coverage of the event, and if you’re attending, you may have the chance of bumping into our representative over there!

The Infinite Flight Team will of course also be there. For more information on their whereabouts during the festival, visit the thread linked below. We can’t wait to see you there!

I dont get it. What is a virtual airline?

A virtual airline, is an airline in game, that simulates the real world equivalent. For example British Airways VA will fly and operate the same routes as the real British Airways.

Also most Virtual Airlines have ranks, and pilots can work through these ranks usually to fly routes with different aircraft.

We don’t use Weebly.

At BAVA, we pride ourselves on the piloting ability our pilots demonstrate, and the overall professionalism in our operations as one of Infinite Flight’s leading Virtual Airlines.

In light of the professionalism and quality that underpins our Virtual Airline, and forms the foundation on which we do everything we do, the BAVA leadership team decided to review and hence modify our entrance test.

By slightly increasing our entrance requirements, we are also increasing the standard of what we expect from pilots wishing to join our Virtual Airline. We as a Virtual Airline pride ourselves on holding over two years worth of experience and expertise, and of professional conduct and piloting throughout our tenure so far, and now these modifications will ensure this going into the future.

Once within British Airways Virtual Airline, pilots will always have ways of improving their piloting conduct and developing their knowledge further, thanks to our dedicated mentoring team and support staff, who go out of their way to help our pilots develop, and ensure their quality.

BAVA pilot positions are set to become more and more lucrative as we close in on nearly 400 members*, the cap on amount of members at BAVA as set by our president. Each of these honourable spots are special not only to the pilot but also to us, as our members form the backbone of all we do and work towards. The implementation of this more challenging test may impact our recruitment numbers, however it will ensure the quality of our pilots not only now, but in the weeks, months, and years to come…

*does not include BAVA staff and some other members.

It has been a busy few weeks for us here at British Airways Virtual. Summer is now in full swing, and it is a summer of flying for many of our pilots, who continue to represent us as a virtual airline, day-in, day-out in the skies of Infinite Flight, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

Last month, June, proved to be quite literally the busiest month in our history, with 2,354 PIREPs generated by our pilots throughout the month. To give an average to this, that’s 78.5 PIREPs each and every day throughout the month. An incredible level of commitment demonstrated by all of our pilots, and for that we’re truly thankful.

Those 2,354 PIREPs totted up to 1300 hours and two minutes of flight time - over 54 days’ worth of consecutive flight time. We think those numbers quite rightly speak for themselves.

The next few weeks here at BAVA prove to be equally as busy, with many new developments and projects in the pipeline over the coming days. Keep an eye out as we release further exciting information on these, along with our coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh by our BAVA representatives, which is now not so far away!

Do I have to be BAVA member to join VATC events? I really want to do them to help me with my EASA PPL

I answer this on behalf of the BAVA events team and VATC Co-Ordinator’s, to put it plain and simple, yes. You will have to be a pilot for BAVA. VATC is exclusive to BAVA pilots as we are the only VA approved to carry out the service by IFVARB. It may be beneficial to you in your personal pilot career but unfortunately these events will be kept internal for the foreseeable future.

The technical team here at BAVA has been hard at work giving our website a summer makeover - and we’re happy to announce it’s now fully ready and has been published this afternoon!

Improvements include a brand new Live Flight Map, a new Live Flight Counter, News Section, and many other cosmetic improvements. We hope all BAVA members and visitors enjoy our new and refreshed look, as we continue to improve our already excellent bank of resources accessible by our members and the general public alike.

This refresh comes as a part of many summer projects which are currently underway here at British Airways Virtual Airline. Only last week, we released our brand new and updated Standard Operating Procedures for the Virtual Airline, which include all basics of flight operation for our Virtual Airline, rules for operating flights, tips and guidelines for communicating with ATC in Infinite Flight, and many more handy guides for our pilots to refer to throughout their membership with BAVA.

The big news is; we’re not finished yet! We have a lot more exciting projects planned for over the summer months, to keep our Virtual Airline where it always has been, ahead of its time. We can’t wait to share this with everyone once they’re close to fruition.

Community members are also encouraged to keep their eyes peeled for a huge #BA100 celebratory event coming to a London Airport near them soon! More on this to come very shortly.

The team at BAVA would like to extend our immense gratitude to the community we continue to play a big part in, and to all of our members and supporters who continue to push us to improve further. You really do take us further.
