having been a regular on the 744 up until their mass retirement post 2010, its really sad to see them go in such fashion; as a result of a pandemic that is really beyond their control.

G-CIVG, the 747 that made the ridicously shortest 747 flight
What do you mean?
Oh boy, even Simple Flying made an article now
Just look at this. Will anything look better?
We can’t forget about G-CIVP, the recordist 747 that made JFK-LHR in 4:56
Take a loooongggg look everyone, this is the last time you will see it. An elegant, slick beautiful plane disappearing, leaving BA going into the clouds and never coming out, enjoy retirement your majesty. You will never be forgotten.
Live long & prosper :(

As Dr Seuss once said: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
Noooo… its just too soon…
Its not like they can replace it to anything close to that…
Here’s some historical routes from when the 747s were operating under BOAC:
Dear British Airways 747,
You served BA well. For over 50 years you’ve flown for the airlines, with others, and BA. Through the bad, the good, and everything else in between, you still kept on flying. Thanks for the memories, Mr. 747, you will be missed. Enjoy your retirement. 😪
I wish I had a chance to fly the 747, but I never did. I’m still truly saddened by this.
Unfortunately, at least half of today’s “Ave-Geeks” disagree. They actually think this is more majestic. 🤬🤯🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Sad to know people like these call themselves “AvGeeks”.
Now, I think it’s okay if people like the A350. But if anyone thinks that this aircraft (which some do) will ever garner the reputation and gain the legend status that the 747 did over night in the 1960’s is crazy and should have their heads examined.
