Breeze Airways A220-300 Orlando to Bangor

Mixed things up with one of the newest entrants to the cut-throat low-cost carrier scene in the United States. Breeze specializes in connecting smaller cities to major air transport hubs, like most of the legacy carriers did before deregulation and the mushroom-like rise of regional airlines operating under contract for said legacy carriers. Today’s flight will be between sunny Florida and chilly Maine.

Morning boarding and pushback from Gate 30

Taking off from the former McCoy Air Force Base, headed to another ex-Strategic Air Command B-52 base, which used to be Dow Air Force Base

Cruising past the mouth of the Chesapeake

Near New York City

Initial descent over Worcester, Massachusetts, which is pronounced nothing like how it’s spelled

Making preparations for our final descent into Bangor

Made it to Maine! Even though the B-52s are long gone, there’s still a major tanker presence in the form of the Maine Air National Guard’s 101st ARW, flying the KC-135R Stratotanker.

Eye-to-eye with the A220

Great pictures, looks like a fun flight! Breeze added Bangor to its Tampa network as well a couple of months ago, might want to fly this myself!

I reckon I’m going to do that route from BGR. There’s another former SAC bomber base next door to Tampa, although they had B-47 Stratojets instead of B-52s at MacDill, and it’s still an active Air Force base, handling KC-135Rs of the 6th and 927th ARWs.
