I was wondering, how long is the range of the VC-25 in IF? According to online sources, the VC-25 will be able to fly 6,800 nmi nonstop, but such a flight would take roughly 14 hours while the Estimated Flight Time for the VC-25 in IF is less than 11 hours with max fuel. I’m planning to do a flight that will take roughly 13 hours and I wanna make sure that I don’t end up running out of fuel.
well, you cant really convert nautical miles to hours because of winds. Fore example, ist-mex is 15 hours while cun-ist is about 12 hours. I am not an expert so I would wait for someone else to come and tell you but sorry i can’t help
I mean, if you use Simbrief you can because it’ll give you a flight time.
Also @Mathurin_Garcier I haven’t tested AF1 so I have no idea if that 742 profile works or not for it
I quickly checked and the Indicated Theoretical Fuel Flow of AF1 is twice the one of the 747-200 that’s why I deleted my reply above. I’m pretty sure then that AF1 will perform very poorly
I once had a very awkward experience, flying from Tokyo to Washington and had to request refueling midair.
VC-25 in IF has poor endurance compared with its civil counterpart.
I have some time to I can try to get you an exact number.
Actually, I’m too lazy to do so right now but from what I can gather it burns about 50-60% more than the 742 with more or less the same fuel capacity and it also can’t step climb as high so overall considering all of this I would expect ~12 hours of maximum range. Once again, this is untested and is just from 3 data points so take it with a very very very large grain of salt.
Ok, I caved and did the math (it was very easy because this profile is entirely broken). Fly as low as reasonably possible (realistically, FL280 west and FL290 east). Maximum 11hr 50m west and 11hr 34m east. The VC25 does the same thing as a lot of early aircraft where its fuel flow will not calm down so numbers are sort of me just trying to estimate - so once again grain of salt. For your 13 hour flight you will need to get a tanker or stop somewhere.
No ist-mex isnt 15 hours its 13
