Introduction
The 767F is a freighter based on the popular but old 767. The Boeing 767F began production in 1995. The first 767-300F, which is the main freighter variant, was delivered to UPS on December 29, 1995. The 767F has been widely used for cargo operations due to its capacity , range and versatility.
Why has Boeing stopped production of this beauty?
Some time ago the FAA imposed a few laws stating that current aircraft in production need to meet emission standards (if I am not wrong). But the FAA gave Boeing an extension till 2027 so that Boeing can finish the remaining back log of 767Fs that are still on order
Production
Boeing still has a backlog comprising of 29 aircraft, with 12 destined for FedEx and 17 for UPS. Before the ongoing strike, Boeing maintained a production rate of approximately one 767F per month.
When the 767F back log will be cleared the 767F will stop production and bring an end to the legacy of the 767.
Note: Boeing will continue producing the KC-46A Tanker variant for military use.
Possible New Freighter
There is long term demand for this aircraft and the 767F leaves a gap in the market that needs to be filled in. Analyst and Boeing Executives have discussed making the 787F this in the past five years but as of now there has unsurprisingly been no public movement.
