Boeing to Build “797” Or Next New Plane in Washington

Well guys it’s here. As much as I love Boeing this is cool to see but I think they should wait a bit more and focus on their problems right now instead of staring to work on something new. But that’s just my opinion. What are yours?

The boeing 797 is the Boeing 737 MAX combined with the Boeing 787

I’ll believe it when I see it, I think this is just the union negotiations which they’ll renegotiate here in a few years so if they don’t actually make any moves towards a b797 during this time then it may not matter

I hope this to be either an flying wing aircraft or a modern version of the Boeing 2707

Boeing could literally get rid of all of their problems by making a new/updated variant of the 757.

So a 787 MAX

It’s good to see Boeing is confirming something new is coming. My hope it’s an aircraft series to replace the 737, 757, 767, and 787. It would be like:

797-1 (replace the Max 7), 797-2 (replace the Max 8), 797-3 (replace the 757-200), 797-4 (replace the 757-300 and 767-200), 797-5 (replace the 767-300 and 787-8), and 797-6 (replace the 787-9)

It’s nice to see that their thinking about the future, but I hope they focus more on their current problems at the moment

I hope this can be a true proper replacement for the 757 and 767.

Let’s hope not

Also why did they choose that design? It’s literally the 787-8! What will be new, winglets??? And for that a whole new type of aircraft???

Why not let the 787 be it self and instead choose a flying wing design or V tail or even triple deck design for the 797. What about the supersonic Boeing 2707? Boeing wanted to revive it, why not choose the 797 as a new 2707?

According to websites the 797 is exactly the same as the 787-8.\

The 797 is still a concept. Most ideas of it center around it being the successor to the 757. Boeing only confirmed that this new aircraft will be built in Seattle. No designs have been revealed about it yet and probably won’t be released for several more years

This is one of my favorite concepts

I feel like the fuselage will only be single aisle and maybe a thinner fuselage and taller gear. Idk tho.

Would be interesting if they did a twin aisle with a layout of 2-4-2

Actually, maybe closer to 2-3-2. I didn’t realize the 767 had that layout

From what I understand this is only to appease the unions but not indicating at all they are already developing it

That design looks good, like a mixture of 767 and 787

But the big question is: what will happen after the 797? Will there be a Boeing B808? Or will there be a 707 V2? 7377? Who knows

7A7, 7B7, 7C7, etc 🤷
