Semi popular I think? 🤔

Only 81 units of the 747-300 were produced. 56 normal passenger variants, 21 -300M variants (partial cargo) and 4 -300SR (Short Range) variants for Japan.

However, a couple of 747-200s got SUD (Stretched Upper Deck) retrofits, which essentially turned them into -300s in a way. Two 747-100s also came out of the factory with the SUD upgrade.

In any case, the 747-300 had/has a good variety of interesting operators.

I mean, as @Lufthansa1 put it, it’s sorta forgotten, when I said that I meant it’s not really talked about as much as it should for a 747.

Bump!

Well they only built it for a relatively short time, being pretty much an evolutionary stopgap between the 747-200 and the 747-400 in hindsight.

The 747-300 would be a great addition to IF!

PH-BUU last served with Saudia in 2010. It was damaged beyond repair on July 18 2010 when it suffered an uncontained engine failure on takeoff roll. It was broken up in 2016.

Does anyone know if—after the United States Government seized Emtrasur’s B743—that it was scrapped or not?
