they’re not retired, they’re on the conservation. Rossiya used them this summer and will likely use them in the summer of 2025. In the summer of Russia, the Moscow-Sochi tourist route is in high demand.

This beauty should be included in a future B747-400 rework! Before time compression, I was hesitant to ask for AR liveries on long range aircraft, now it’s a different story.

Rip N747PA better know as Clipper Juan T. Trippe. First
747 to be involved in an accident. First to be delivered to
commercial airlines and second to be built. Last Pan Am
plane to depart New York. Turned into a noodle restaurant
in South Korea and tragically scrapped in December 2010

Airline Secrets Exposed: The Scandinavian government owned Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) wanted in on the action and ordered two jets from Boeing. The first two arrived in Sweden in 1971 and because of their gigantic size and immense power, SAS deemed it appropriate to christen them, “Huge Viking” and “Ivar Viking” with reference to the old Norse mythology.

OY-KHA, was named Ivar Viking. Leased to Nigeria Airways from April 1982 to June 1983, this aircraft spent 15 years at SAS. After leaving in 1986, it flew for various British carriers, the last of which was Virgin Atlantic 1990-1998, as G-VOYG. It was broken up at Kemble in 1999.

Boeing 747 - MSN 20121
Serial number 20121 LN:167
Type 747-283B
First flight date 28/10/1971
Engines 4 x PW JT9D-7J
