Boeing 747 ILS

Why can’t the 747 have APPROACH capabilities?

I’d assume it’s because it’s a legacy aircraft (not reworked)

This is a common misconception, APPR mode and ILS approaches are not the same thing. On the 747, you can still tune to the ILS, use LNAV NAV1 and fly the glideslope manually.

APPR just gives the ability to fly the glideslope automatically.

The 747 will probably gain APPR mode when it eventually gets reworked.

Hand-flying the ILS is also just…better.

No it isn’t. It just hasn’t been updated since 2014..

That was what he said

For future reference;
Support is for technical issues with the app. Nothing else.

Thanks!

Exactly what Ben said! Since it hasn’t been updated/reworked yet, it’s not equipped with such tech in-game

Whatever. I used the wrong terminology. Thanks for catching that.

I thought I sent it under “general”. Did I not?

Nope. Both in Support and I moved them

Thank you. Sorry for the inconvenience.

hand flying is better

You can still fly an ILS Approach, without APPR Mode, fully using Autopilot lol.

Just engage heading, speed and VS mode and then adjust them as required.

Thanks!! That really helps!!!
That’s how I’ve been doing it for several years, until I figured out “APPR” on my own. Then, after seeking a manuel, I found this website.
So yeah, I doubt that modern 747’s and large military aircraft, like C130s, go without approach/ auto land features.
I thought I posted this where such inquiries belong, and will be seen by game developers.(?)

Handflying ILS is great unless you encounter 0SM conditions at your arrival airport on the first B748 flight after a long infinite flight break and have to divert to an airport 1 hour away…

You can always than also just tune LNAV on with the localizer (NAV1 instead of GPS). Now you only need to focus on manually flying and following the glideslope.

You can still hand fly a ILS approach with 0SM of visibility. It is very fun

I tried but it didn’t work for me 200ft agl and still no runway whatsoever.

It has nearly 2,000 votes and will probably be next in line after the 787 cause if it isn’t I imagine a lot of people would be pissed off. I mean it is literally the most requested feature IF has ever had

City lights and 747 rework are my most anticipated updates
