Boeing 747-400 Takeoff

What do you recommend for flap settings when taking off with the 747-400?

10 or 20, depending on weight

Thx for the advice

20 seems a bit much. @DELLIS41 I would recommend flaps 10

It depends on runway length, I usually do flaps 10 when I’m heavy on a long runway, or light on a short runway. If I’m heavy on a short runway, I’ll go flaps 20 for shorter distance. Keep in mind that your climb gradient is reduced if you use more flaps, so you might want to cut the de-rate and go flaps 10 if you have high obstacles during climb.
