We need to rally together those who have a passion for vintage aviation.
It’s so disappointing to see that the majority of IF users as well as the devs are really only concerned with current aviation. This is understandable because I’m sure many of us want to see new aircraft in the sim. However, the addition of retro aviation (70s-2000s) would allow for an IF fleet that is vibrant and diverse and for many more route recreation possibilities.
I think that including older planes THAT ARE OF GOOD QUALITY would interest the IF users in older aviation. I make that point of having up-to-date retro aircraft because all of the older planes (bar the 757) are not reworked and are afforded little attention by the community. Many argue that no one cares about older aviation in IF. The 757 rework is a prime example of how this isn’t true. Since it has been reworked, I see the 57 in the skies constantly.
These planes would also allow for the addition of classic defunct airlines that we all love.
Don’t get me wrong, I am just as excited for the MAX, 320N, & 321N as the next person, but Im hoping that after the inclusion of these staple Modern aircraft, that the Dev team will look back and show some love to the old days.
Yup. We have a dearth of triholers in the sim, with us being limited to the Diesel 10, Gucci Bird, and More Death 11. No Falcons, no Tristars, and no 727s. Which is a shame, in my opinion. Falcons are all over the place, Tristars pioneered the long-haul expansion of airlines like Cathay Pacific and Delta, and 727s were the backbone of domestic medium-haul routes until the mid-1990s.
Smoky takeoff of a Delta 727-225/Adv out of Nashville during the last days of the 727 with the airline. Delta operated its last flight with the 727 on April 6th, 2003.
The Boeing 727 is a classic airliner, we should have this!
