They were together in a full-on Continental Airlines started hub from Guam then and merged with United Airlines last year in 2010-2012.
Departed Wings: Flashback Friday…Forty-four years ago!!!
As new start-up airline, Southwest Airlines took to the skies over Texas in June 1971, firmly established Braniff International and Texas International didn’t look to kindly to the low fare carrier. As Southwest continued to apply for new routes and destinations within Texas, the two airlines initiated fare wars and lawsuits against Southwest Airlines and the Texas Aeronautics Commission (TAC) starting just after the inaugural service. For the next five years, as Southwest expanded, legal battles continued, culminating with the US Justice Department filing an antitrust lawsuit against Braniff International. On December 27, 1978, Braniff “was fined $100,000 for using unfair tactics in squeezing a rival airline out of the commuter business.” Another aspect of the settlement was that Braniff would provide Southwest a single Boeing 727 (for which Southwest would only pay operating costs) to see if a second aircraft type would be viable for the airline. With 155 passenger seats, the Boeing 727 was delivered in March 1979, and placed on the Dallas Love Field to Houston Hobby route. It was soon realized due to operational issues and economics the Boeing 727 was not compatible and the plane was returned back to Braniff after having only been utilized for about ten months. Southwest would reintroduce the Boeing 727 a few years later for West Coast services while waiting for the deliveries of the Boeing 737-300.
Seen having just been push-backed for a southbound departure at Dallas Love Field (DAL) in July 1979, is N406BN, a Boeing 727-291, originally delivered to Frontier Airlines in 1968, purchased by Braniff International in 1972 and “leased” to Southwest Airlines between March 1979 and January 1980. **Departed Wings Slide Collection.

Is very nice the picture!
I would fly this every time if we had it ❤️
I say we need this in game I would fly it a lot. Mind you I am a little biased when it comes to 727-200 as I got my start in aviation as a mechanic. Will be even better if had the all Canada Express livery as that’s the boys I work with.
Olympic Airlines Boeing 727-200 at a remote stand in Corfu (SX-CBF, Taygetus).
If the 727-200 does come my only wish is that the All Canada Express livery is included as a freight hauler. Been 20 years so I don’t remember the registration that was the main livestock hauler for ACE. ACE has been defunct since 2006 and I believe Kelowna flight craft bought the ace 727 fleet.
Airline Secrets Exposed: REWARD for STOLEN Boeing 727-200 series. EX- American Airlines N844AA was stolen 21 years ago on May 25, 2003 and has not been seen since.
The aircraft had been grounded at Quatro de Fevereiro Airport in Luanda, Angola in March 2002 and sat idle for fourteen months, accruing more than US$4 million in unpaid airport fees. It was one of two aircraft at the airport that were in the process of being converted for use by Nigerian IRS Airlines.
On 25 May 2003, shortly before sunset (likely to be 17:00 WAT), it is believed that two men—Ben C. Padilla and John M. Mutantu—boarded the aircraft. Padilla was a pilot and flight engineer from the United States, while Mutantu was a hired mechanic from the Republic of the Congo. Neither of the men were certified to fly a Boeing 727 and needed an additional crew member to fly the aircraft. Padilla is believed by U.S. authorities to have been at the controls.
