Beware of kobe, japan

Before! anyone flies to Kobe, Japan, please see this. Kobe, Japan is very windy right now as this topic is getting written. Here the order of events.

1. I first got throw in turbulence while descending into Kobe, Japan
2. Landing was troubling as winds max at 30-32kts, making it hard to land due to the winds stuttering from 25 to 27 to 25 to 30
3. As soon as I touch the ground, the wind got stronger and I lost…

Oof, that B737 is gonna spend a long time in maintenance. I sometimes like windy airports as it gives me a challenge and makes a flight more interesting. Japan is very windy at times, I remember doing a long haul flight from HND - ATL and my departure was very windy and turbulent but in the coastal areas it’s common. Also the around this time in Asia is monsoon season so other weather conditions may be in place such as low visibility. Lastly, remember you can always go around especially in conditions like these.

Ouch - that’s going to be a hefty repair bill 😬

Yeah, very Hefty

I didn’t want to go around because I don’t want to deal with it again.

A chance that you’re still alive. It already happened to me in Dallas during a storm few months ago, in a 747 with cargolux from ORD, 34 gusting, crosswind, i almost crashed twice and surely lost a gear or two 😂 or even 2/3 of my left wing… 🤣

I had a 30 knot crosswind into KORD earlier this week with a 787-9 and I absolutely greesed it. Was an amazing feeling

If I was in this situation and knew I couldn’t land safely I would divert to somewhere like KIX (if less windy on other side of the bay) or NGO.
