"Better Pushback" in Infinite Flight

Pushing back in Infinite Flight has always happened with the pushback button, but what if we adopted a pushback method similar to the Xplane add on Better Pushback? For those who do not know, Better Pushback allows you to pre-plan your pushback by basically drawing your path. Not only would this improve realism, but it would allow the pilot the luxury of using the time during pushback to plan a taxi route, finish setting up the auto pilot, and more. The best part of this is its inclusion of @BigBert10’s idea to allow pushback to include forward tugging. This feature could revolutionize Infinite Flight’s ground experience as we know it.

You know, I actually kinda like this idea. It would make things slightly easier. However, I’m not completely sure if this is something the devs would be willing to work on. That pre-planned pushback tab would add an entirely new dimension to the game, which would make IF even less user friendly than it already is. I might need to wait to see more interest before I give a vote, but it’s definitely interesting.

Not a bad idea. Considering that ATC instructions will likely be modified, this feature would revolutionise pushbacks in the sim. At least it will become less of a hassle to pushback from stands at the corner of terminals e.g at Stockholm, Cairo, JFK, LAX, Nairobi etc

In addition, it would likely incorporate the towing feature that has already been requested. So, this would be like killing two birds with one stone. I like it.

Bookmarked for the future!

this could work well with “Drag and Taxi” Feature

This would be a cool third party app idea.

I would really like this feature, be it with or without pull forward (as this isn’t that commonly used). Great idea, thanks!

It actually is used quite often depending on where you live. I know that almost every time I fly at of KEWR the plane gets pulled forward.

I really like this idea. Or even just the ability to “tow” or move forward as part of the pushback as previously stated. Great request!

That’s very interesting. Never happened to me in Europe (and pretty sure it isn’t even allowed with passengers at some airports here), but that’s interesting, thanks!

Voted! This will make IF better :D

Overall it seems like a handy idea, but just seems a little unrealistic in a way. I like it the way it is. You never know what the traffic on the taxiway would be like and your pushback might need to be changed.

For the first time in a while, I can say I actually like and would second this idea.

BUMP!

I have used this plugin before on X-Plane, and it is amazing.

I like this idea! But honestly, I think what would work better in IF than a better pushback kind of pushback would be the type of pushback in X-Plane mobile. You can have an option to either pushback straight, left or right. This simplifies things greatly and would also retain the simplicity of IF.

Well, it is more realistic because in real life the pilot does not control the pushback. Also, generally before pushing back you have to check to make sure that there are no planes around you. However, if there is an emergency you will be able to pause the push back.

I understand that. It’s just I would rather wait a while until it is possible for 3D buildings and all if that ever happens before adding such a feature.

Yes, well this feature would most likely come after 3D buildings, which are in development already.

And we could get that nice little pushback cart or whatever the term is.

That’s pretty cool. So you can enjoy the passenger’s view Behind the window and Listen to safety instructions 😁
