Hello community I was wondering if anyone knew any good places in IF that are close to mountains and the airport is close by so I can take a Cessna 172 up there and just enjoy the view.

LOWI is a nice airport if I remember correctly.
It’s in a valley in between mountains but you can do patterns there as normal

LFLJ, VNKT, ZULS, VQPR, VNLK are my favourite. You can’t really do patterns at VNLK and VQPR though and they’re both one of the hardest airports to land on in the world. That said, the flight from ZULS to VQPR has some absolutely stunning scenery. Can’t do patterns at LFLJ either actually, and also quite a hard landing. But it’s beautiful hahaha!

Go for voci, It’s amazing…good scenery and low mountains
By the way, VNLK (Lukla Airport) is very close to Mt. Everest, so if you ever wanted to fly around that Mt. Everest mountain range, Lukla is probably a good choice.
Try kfat or ksbd for the mountains near sfo ir LA
