Chinese President Xi Jingping has announced the official opening of Beijing’s new Daxing International Airport after four years of construction.
- The new airport will have the capacity to handle 45 million passengers annually by 2021, and 72 million by 2025.
- Costing 450 billion yuan (about 63.3 billion U.S. dollars), Beijing Daxing International Airport features four runways, 268 parking lots, and a terminal complex of 1.43 million square meters.
- The complex is also 100-percent “green”, with renewable resources making up to 16 percent.
Here’s a really cool interactive model of the airport and route map: https://news.cgtn.com/event/2019/PKX/indexPC.html
Beijing Daxing So Far Has Foreign Airline Service Announcements From:
- British Airways
- Himalaya Airlines
- LOT Polish Airlines
- Malaysia Airlines
- Royal Air Maroc
- Royal Brunei Airlines
- American Airlines??? (See Below)
The American Airlines thing… I’m currently researching to see if this is actually true:
According to the CGTN website, the interactive map for both Capital and Daxing destinations show that Dallas/Fort Worth no longer serves Capital, but now serves Daxing… American Airlines is the only carrier between DFW and Beijing.
Additionally, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Boston are listed as Daxing destinations into the U.S… will need to verify if this is true, or if the route map is false.
What do you guys think of the new airport?
That’s great can’t wait to fly at it in IF.
For domestic flight in China, it will include 3 major Chinese airlines— Air China, China Southern,Eastern with their affiliated airlines. It will be ever busy in the northern China in both Infinite flight and real world aviation.
Super exciting and a beautiful building!
Any news on the possibility of other Asia Airlines such as Emirates?
Also, has Air Koryo shown interest in serving from the new airport to Pyongyang and back?
What angers me is the route map where trans-pacific routes go the wrong way…
This is great! The big airport looks very modern, and perfect for the city’s population!
Good luck Daxing!
Technically it doesn’t as Aisia is the eastern most continent (even though they are west of the USA) because they are on the other side of the International Date Line.
I know that but couldn’t they just shift the map so Beijing is in the centre and the lines get slightly manipulated?
Probably, wouldn’t be surprised to see AA move DFW/LAX to Daxing.
@ifaet pls add immediately thank
Stunning job with the Architecture. I really love to see how this airport turns out for the following year. This looks awesome!
Surprised to see LOT Polish Airlines operating there.
Maybe in the near future we’ll get a flight from KDEN to Beijing. They’ve been speculating a potential expansion to Asia.
Now Infinite Flight needs to make Daxing airport in the game
More carbon emissions! On a real note it’s a cool building just more carbon emissions! Yay!
