Battery Discrepancy (iPadOS v. Infinite Flight)

Happy Wednesday.

Following the release of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, I have noticed an issue in which there is a discrepancy between the battery percentage shown by my iPad and Infinite Flight.

At 2:15 this afternoon, my iPad was showing 96%. Infinite Flight, however, was showing 95%. While abnormal, there was nothing to sweat.

About 15 minutes later, at 2:33, I went to lower my screen brightness and noticed my iPad dropped to 94% (no issue there, that was expected). What was concerning, though, was Infinite Flight was showing my iPad at 95%.

Surely, you all are going to say I am crazy. How could this be? I had to have swapped the screenshots while uploading. Nope. Check the ETE to Dest, Fuel Used, Flight Time, or Fuel Remaining tabs. All will show a different number (ascending or descending from the previous), as expected while en route.

Here’s another test at 2:41. My iPad shows 93%, and Infinite Flight still shows 95%.

Further, it is important to note that this is a two-way street. Like the first two images, Infinite Flight displays a lower percentage than the device, 92% and 90%, respectively.

Device: 11-inch iPad Pro (8,1)
OS: iPadOS 17.0
Infinite Flight Version: 23.2.1 (4433)

Is this a show-stopping issue? Absolutely not. Annoying? A tad. It is nice knowing the current state of my device at a quick glance rather than having to enter the Control Center.

I just wanted to put this on the map. Thanks, all.

Wow. Someone with a brain who made an actual support issue… nice!

Same thing happens on my iPad Pro M2, i’ve tried everything to fix it but nothing works :p

I’ve been experiencing the same issue on my iPad Air M1. Infinite Flight will only display the battery percentage as multiples of 5.

Could there be some kind of “lag” between the actual battery level and what IF displays?

This issue is present in the Scenery Editor as well.

Device details and testing environment are constant with respect to the content in the original post.

Totally didn’t plug an EWR rework…

It’s not really a lag, Infinite Flight just rounds the iPad’s actually battery % to the nearest 5 for whatever reason

Thanks for the report, it looks like there was a different implementation of this battery indication in one of our frameworks, which we upgraded earlier this year, that reports lower accuracy readings than before (every 5% as @bensonb noted)

We’ll take a look at this. but just for transparency, it’s a low priority issue for now on our issue tracker

Thanks, Cam! That’s all I needed to hear. You’re welcome to close this if you’d like.
