Batavia Air (PK-YVJ)

In early 2010, Batavia Air made a major move to expand its long-haul routes and high-capacity markets by acquiring the Airbus A330-200. During its operational period, Batavia Air operated two wide-body Airbus A330-200s, registered PK-YVI and PK-YVJ.

These aircraft were acquired to serve long-haul (international) flights, charter flights, and high-demand domestic routes. The following are the routes previously operated by Batavia Air’s Airbus A330-200s:

1. International Routes:

  • Jakarta (CGK) ⇄ Jeddah (JED): This is the main scheduled international commercial route used for both regular and commercial Umrah flights.
  • Jakarta (CGK) ⇄ Riyadh (RUH): Officially opened along with the expansion of flight permits to expand the labor market and pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
  • Jakarta (CGK) ⇄ Guangzhou (CAN): A busy international route in East Asia used to transport business travelers and large volumes of cargo.

2. Main Domestic Routes (High-Demand)

  • Jakarta (CGK) ⇄ Medan (MES): This was the first domestic route to be tested for the inaugural commercial flight of Batavia Air’s A330 fleet in September 2009.
  • Jakarta (CGK) ⇄ Manado (MDC): A very popular scheduled flight for travelers and the people of North Sulawesi.
  • Jakarta (CGK) ⇄ Surabaya (SUB): Operated periodically, especially during peak passenger seasons, the Eid homecoming season, or year-end holidays.

3. Charter Flight Routes (Charter & Seasonal Hajj)

  • This A330-200 fleet is chartered specifically to fly pilgrims from various embarkation points directly to Jeddah or Medina.
  • East Asia Seasonal Charter: Sometimes used to serve seasonal charter routes to countries such as Taiwan (Taipei) to accommodate holiday needs or migrant workers during certain periods.
