Many members here are extremely knowledgeable about flying and aviation in general, I was wondering how many of you are actually in the aviation (airline/airport/manufacturers) industry and/or leisure pilots? Or is aviation a personal interest or passion. Just love the vibe and passion of the community since I’ve joined in October 👍👍
I, for one don’t work in the industry but fly (as a passenger 😂) several times a month for work. I can pretty much explain the pros and cons of different airlines and the seating arrangements in diff classes but that’s as far as my knowledge goes
I am a pilot in BUZZ (by Ryanair). I play here because I love to recreate my real flights or fly somewhere where I could never land a plane (mostly every country out of Europe and coast of the Mediterranean Sea).
I’m a former pilot for a part 121 carrier with over 20 years industry experience in roles from operations to industry stakeholder. I currently own an IT business but keep in contact with many in the industry.
Like you, I travel on a somewhat regular basis for work. I’m extremely well travelled both here in the states as well as internationally – having been to most “major” international airports here in the US, as well in Europe, Asia, and Australia, it’s neat being able to compare airports irl with their IF 3D renderings.
It goes without saying the 3D renderings are spot on to their irl counterparts – big kudos to IFAET for the great work they do.
I’m just an aviation fan looking to finish college. I get up in the air as often as I can with friends who are pilots, and plan to become one myself once I can fund it, but till then I keep to college, building and flying models, and of course, flying in IF!
I wanted to be a pilot when I was younger but it didn’t work out, now I’m just into it as a general hobby. I’m currently studying for my Master’s in Data Sci. Might get my PPL once I get a stable income.
I’m an aerospace engineer specializing in navigation systems. I was part of the team that developed Performance-Based Navigation and researched fault-tolerant systems for aircraft (777 and 787 mostly). In fact, some of my work on improving the 787’s resilience to failures has even been adopted by the A350.😁 Today, I work on navigation systems for unmanned vehicles (mostly land and aerial).
Aircraft/aviation has always been a big part of my life. I discovered MSFS98 in high school and ever since, flight sims have played a crucial role in both my research and my personal enjoyment of aviation. Fast forward to grad school, I was fortunate enough to earn my private pilot’s license while pursuing my degrees. Life’s demands have limited my flying time lately, so finding IF this year has brought me many joys.
I want to be a pilot, ever since I was 5/6. But, I have a lot of medical issues and going over the hurdle of getting a special issuance medical is going to be very tough. So, I need a definitive answer from the FAA and a yes or no if I can pursue this. If not I want to be a flight attendant. If that doesn’t work a ramp worker. If that doesn’t work a gate agent. Aviation is where I belong no matter what I’m doing. But for now, Infinite Flight will suffice.
