B777X v. B787 Cockpit

Hey everyone! With the new B777X soon to be released on the market, there is one thing I’m curious about. Why do both the B777X and B787 cockpit look the same, if not similar? Why didn’t Boeing opt to replicate the original B777 cockpit on to the new one? Thanks!

Here’s my guess:

The 777 series was developed in the early 1990s. As you know, technology has come a long way in the 30+ years since. The 787 rolled off the assembly line in 2012, so has a much more sophisticated cockpit design.

I feel they’re aiming for modern, not continuing the 777 design.

Also, you may want to move this to #real-world-aviation .

Makes sense.

How do I do this?

Why should they not look the same? Having all cockpits look similar ensures that a pilot certified for the 787 for example can train to be certified on the 777x in less time. Commonality can save a lot of money and time
