Hi Everybody!
I would like to suggest you a challenge based on the recent engine failure that happened to B767 of Delta Airlines during the takeoff from Prague Airport (LKPR) yesterday on September 1st, 2023.
The Boeing 767-332, heading to KJFK airport, departed from LKPR RWY24 at 10:32 UTC with 209 passangers on board and enough of fuel to complete the transatlantic route. Exactly 10 seconds after the takeoff the second engine blew up. The pilot immediately declared an emergency, finished a right traffic circuit at FL030 and landed back in Prague 20 minutes later. Nobody was injured.
The scenario for challenge purposes:
- Start simulation with Boeing 767-300 (Legacy), Delta Airlines livery
- Set TOW to “HEAVY” + adjust passanger count to maximum
- Line up RWY24 (LKPR) and take off
- Turn off the second engine 10 second after you leave the ground
- Proceed a right traffic circuit at FL030 and land back on RWY24
- Share your impression here with us!
The simulation probably won’t be hard for experience captains as you are but you should expect some hard times landing the overweighted airplane with one engine only.
The real footage from runway can be found on YouTube. Bellow are some screenshots from internet. Enjoy!
