During the Last week i flew multiple longhauls with different Aircrafts. I noticed after Rotation and getting to the First waypoint the plane overreacts and Turns right first instead of left.
Right now i saw my A359 in Cruise doing the Same First hard leftturn then right in the correct way. It happened with the B748 B789 A359 A35K.
was the aircraft exactly on the route or just a bit off? If so it’s probably that the AP near the WP try to arrive exactly over it and start turning in that direction, than the WP change and start the turn to the new direction
It depends on your flight plan (note that there are lines connecting each waypoint). Usually, the moment you turn on your LNAV GPS after rotation, the aircraft will automatically bank to the direction where the first waypoint in your flight plan is located. If you are not aligned to the path (the line) displayed in your PFD or map, the autopilot will make corrections and adjustments to intercept the path until it stabilizes.
My personal fix to this is to manually fly the aircraft after rotation until I reach my acceleration altitude of around 1,200ft to 2,500ft, depending on aircraft and weight as well to the departure procedure I am following from the airport. After I reach my acceleration altitude, I turn my autopilot on, set DIRECT to the first waypoint (if the departure is not straight out), then turn my LNAV GPS on. This way, the aircraft won’t “overreact” and simply intercept the DIRECT path until it merges into your filed flight plan.
For cruises, that is just your autopilot turning in advance to the next waypoint or just making adjustments (albeit rather violent, I experienced the same in an A359 and A35K). It will stabilize shortly; however, if it persists, I recommend disconnecting and connecting your LNAV GPS, or simply fly the aircraft manually until it aligns to the flight plan then turn autopilot on once more.
I Play Infinite flight for nearly 10 Years now, this Problem i had never before. And i allign my First waypoint with the runway to climb Out straight. Its a mistery to me. Sometimes it Happens Sometimes Not.
Are you on the beta? If so, this is a known AP issue where when reaching a new waypoint (even if the next leg is just continuing in a straight line from the previous leg), half the time the aircraft banks sharply to 30° bank for no reason, then banks the other way to recover the track.
Hope the devs will have a fix to this issue soon!
I must say I have had similar weird instances of illogical hard turns recently (TBM and B77F), whereas the autopilot works perfectly for 99% of the turns…
Yes flying in Beta, so its a Beta Problem?
I happen to also fly on beta. The next built will surely solve that then.
