B747-8 fuel management

Hey guys,

Can someone here give me a little guidance? I intend to take a B747-8 flight that will be around13 hours. I’m not sure how to manage the fuel for it though because I’m not very familiar with it and have never actually flown on it. Thanks!

Jerry

you can use a fuel planner online

Take 2-4 hours more than recommended in your flight plan maker.

Hey,

the 747 is an ancient plane, so the fuel burn is quite off. I would recommend using a flight planning app like Fptoif and adding a heavy amount to the recommended fuel.

this is the website i use

Happy anniversary btw

what anniversary?😂

Meant to say that to @BritishPilot

It doesn’t have all airports though, I’ve found OMDB to not be in its database.

You have to put a nearby airport then.

thank you :)

Actually no,the fuel on the B747 is like REALLY messed up,it’s better to take around 5-6 hours extra.😉

Actually, you are so wrong. The estimated fly time for the fuel is about 1.30-2.30 hours wrong, but the estimated fuel weigh (what Simbrief usually calculates for me) is not so wrong.

You know what, just fill up the whole tank. 😂

It can do Mach .90 easily, so grab 3 extra hours of gas, depending on your flight.

Hey @AviatorJerry

What I tell you now sounds maybe weird but, but when you set flaps 10 on your Cruiselevel. You will reduce your Fuel Flow and improve/ increase your Range . It will be nearly 1:1 as shown in the menu :)

So your flight will be 13 hours ? Add fuel for 15:30 and you should be fine :)
