As I am currently in my air traffic controller training I didn’t get around the world as much as I hoped, but I still had some cool experiences, maybe you’ll also enjoy seeing them!
First, here is a picture of the place I have been training in for the last 3 months. In Germany, tower controllers also learn to control radar on a rudimentary level so I also had the ACC experience in between my tower segments. In 3 months we will move to a 360 degree tower simulator for the last part of my training.
Random Jump to my flight back from Singapore to London on the British Airways A380 that greeted us with a stunning sunrise after holding East of London for a couple of minutes with some BA 787s.
We then continued on to Brussels with an A319 and on the way to runway 27L I got this photo of some aircraft with the control tower at Heathrow.
Also, this British Airways tail line up at T5C I believe.
Next up is me visiting the control tower at Munich (my favourite). Here you can see a (admittedly pretty far zoomed out) view of the “event” hall at MUC as well as T2 and its satellite terminal. At a remote stand you can see an A340-600 and with it’s back towards me is an A380 of which Lufthansa has stationed all at MUC.
As Part of my training I also got the chance to go up on the Frankfurt control tower, which is normally not possible, even if I am an employee at the German air traffic control service provider. Here I took a photo from a unique perspective with a few B747s.
In June I visited London with my mom to watch the Champions League Final in Hyde Park and in my way back I spotted this for the second time after seeing it in Washington 2 years ago. Glad to have seen it before it’s retirement in October.
Lastly a few photos from spotter point west (E2) and east (B757, A339) at Frankfurt. The E2 photo is a bit blurry but it was my first time seeing the Royal Jordanian E2-195! The Condor livery also looks so stunning in person, I can’t get enough of it in real life. I also spotted another rare B757-300 in a special livery, this time in the classic “Wir lieben Fliegen!” livery.
I hope you enjoyed this random compilation and I hope to be able to take a lot more cool photos from the tower I will be deployed to soon. Take care!
