There may be a button next to the engine start buttons(systems page). But one would be required to start the APU before they can start the engines

I think it’s a great idea and it should definitely be implemented! You can’t have engines magically starting out of nowhere

I think it’s a great idea for adding full realism of aircraft to the simulator. My only concern is that it may be somewhat pointless in Infinite Flight for a while to come as it seems there are much higher priorities at the moment. Cheers!

No ground power…The idea is for the engines to start similar to real life not just by magic :)

Perhaps the aircraft’s battery gives the APU power

Cool idea but for the purpose of Infinite Flight there would be no reason to add the function of the APU. That’s because if we can shut the engines down (which will be a new feature) the APU would need to be on in order to still have power to the aircraft. There’s no way to get ground power (or an air start if the APU is INOP) so there’s no point in having the option to shut the APU down.

Maybe they may implement an ‘AUTO’ feature. I.e when the engines are running and stable after starting, the system can automatically shut down the APU. Good idea if you think about it…thanks for your thoughts :)

In the future to implement an APU Button would be great for realism. As a maintainer of Boeing aircraft, it would be a good plus for realism for engine start up. However, that being said, I’m sure there are a lot of other improvements and additions to flight simulator.

Bumping this after debating whether to put in a request myself and stumbling upon it!!
What a great addition this would be to IF Global!
It would open the door to having more components to actually start your flight, and if FDS ever bring us 3D animated and interactive cockpits - an extra dimension to power up.
It’s an easy vote, and it’s got mine!!

This would be an awesome feature to have! Now that we have global, maybe we could have an APU button, to turn on the APU before the main engine can be started, and if this feature was eventually added, I would love for it to come with the noise that it makes, the noise you hear whilst walking to the plane on the tarmack. I really hope this gets added🤞Please oh please 😁

Been waiting for this! It would make the game more realistic in the fact that the APU is required to start the engines. Got my vote!
