Why does autopilot bank at 25°max instead of 30° I think a standard turn is usually at 30°, is it not? i know the 777 flybywire system tries to return the bank angle back to 30° when it goes over 35°. why arent we using a standard rate of turn? i dont like to overshoot my turns, which happens quite frequently on autopilot. also whenever I given a holding pattern, I fly the turns manually so I can follow the purple line im given, and have to turn at 30° usually to achieve that.
Most Autopilots follow a rate one turn ( 3 degrees a second or 360 in 2 min) its also the standard turn on majority of SIDS and track turns . Its calculated at TAS/10 +7 kts and the limit is maximum 25 degrees. Im also speaking from a real life experience and i could be wrong. The overshooting is just a game AP issue as it’s unreliable at anticipating when to turn/intercept.
No fmc onboard hence no calculations made and actually there is navigational data being used since IF use NavBlue which supports different leg types and support for Airnc424 and everything for the whole navigation suite but autopilot only supports basic tf leg which is track to fix at 1nm between two waypoints. Now this reduces the complexity for a mobile game but not ideal for a flight simulator in my opinion. You can still manually iniate the turns if you were to follow the headings displayed on the top. So it’s just about coding the autopilot to support them.
