Autoland with appr

Hello everyone I use the appr to land and I’ve an issue with it because it doesn’t align the aircraft with the center line please what can I do about this or how to I handle this

Hey @Derrick778 !

That has been a known thing, but end of the day it’s just there to get you on the ground automatically, however you can try doing these to help align properly.

1.) Disengage APPR Mode, when you’re about to touch the ground disengage APPR mode and apply the necessary rudder required to align on the runway.

2.) APPR + Rudder, you can try apply a bit of rudder while on APPR mode (wouldn’t recommend doing this because if you apply to much your going to mess with the aircraft that’s landing (your aircraft)

Try different ways that others may suggest and my suggestions and see which one works best for you!

Hi, in all my usage experience, APPR does very accurately track the center line course, even with a significant crosswind.

But because it tracks so well during crosswinds you are left with the need to manually remove the crab angle into the wind before lowering the nosewheel to the runway.

It helps to practice de-crabbing during a crosswind with the short final function in solo mode, where you can get many practice repetitions without having to manually set up the approach each time.

Honestly I can related to this based off experience. When I’m coming in for landing into for example an airport with 20 knots right downwind (hitting the right side of the nose) it crabs while on approach (cross wind causes this basically)

So I usually tend to disengage APPR mode when about 3NM away from the threshold, so I can apply rudder myself which helps but then the crosswinds from when on approach it is still on the ground, so for example the A320 as you know is a lighter aircraft in IF fleet (or one of actually) so that plane will be effected by the winds on the ground, which pushes me off centre line, so I have to slow down plus get on centre to soon thereafter exit the runway.

I do number 2 and I’m so good at it that I always end up aligned. It’s easy to be honest

I’m starting to try out Number 2 more, because I think if you can master Number 2, which requires precise rudder input, then your one skilled pilot.

Yes Indeed, my initial tries were disaster, but as time went on I mastered it and you wouldn’t even know I used Auto Land when you’re watching my landing

The Trick is to "slowly " input Rudder once you hear the 1000 Call out, no more, no less
