Auto Start or Manual

Hi everyone! I noticed that there is an auto start button in IF. So now I’m curious, do you use this feature or do you like to manually start up the aircraft?

Personally I like to start up manually because it adds more realism, let me know what you think by taking the poll!

The only time I use auto start is when it is most convenient such as a training session so I waste less time starting up on the ground or a test. I use it to save time when I need it the most to save time but I never use it when I do normal flights.

Would you rather me be honest and give myself up or lie?

I only use autostart if I’m testing something on solo so I don’t have to sit for 30 seconds while my engines start up

You’re the Chief Pilot of ANVA and you use autostart

I’m sure I’m not the only one around my VA who has used autostart on ES at some point or another.

Shoot I gotta run let me commit an aviation crime and use autostart in my Citation X

I personally always use manual unless I’m in a gigantic rush, which means I really shouldn’t be flying. Flying takes time and care.

Well to be fair the start up process in infinite flight is hardly complex. I just use auto because dare I say why not. I want to be realistic of course, but it’s also kinda a fun game on my phone at the end of the day. In XPlane for example I do use the full startup process because it’s actually part of getting the flight ready, and setting up the aircraft as it’s needed, not to mention that it has the full thing even the mobile X-Plane. In infinite flight it just feels like a waste of time tbh…

You might as well do one of the steps, waiting for them to reach idle and starting them up in an order, instead of skipping straight from the engines windmilling to idle. It’s better in the GAs with control over ignition and mixture.

The only times I have VFR use auto-start is on casual when I’m in a hurry. Every other time I do a manual startup. It’s more realistic and believe it or not, fun as well.

Well ya, but I mean still you turn the plane on, and start the engine in three buttons max, it’s not not the same, and to me carries really no point except being the slightly longer way. I mean I’d hardly say I’m doing it to save time too because I save at most a second the way infinite flight has it set up, it’s just the straight forward easy way…

I just don’t understand why you’d spend the time doing the procedure in Xplane but would skip all of the possible steps you could take to start the engines manually in IF. But you do you.

I only autostart when flying training sessions. That way the trainee can get more air time controlling
