Australia Post releases collectable Postal Stamps to celebrate Qantas' 100th Anniversary

To celebrate Qantas’ 100th Anniversary coming up in November, Australia Post has released a set of collectable stamps to celebrate the occasion.

2020 also marks 100 years since the beginning of Civil Aviation in Australia.

Out of the two released, the first features G-AUAB (later VH-UAB), which was the first land aircraft to fly around Australia in Aug 1924. Interestingly, this plane was later bought by Charles Kingsford-Smith (a famous aviator here in Australia, and the namesake of Sydney’s airport).

The second stamp celebrates Qantas’ 100th Anniversary, and features their 787 in the 100th Anniversary livery at Sydney Airport (VH-ZNJ). The iconic ATC Tower features in the background, as well as an Airservices Australia fire vehicle and another Qantas 787.

I think these stamps look really good, and are a great way to celebrate this momentous occasion. Interestingly, the Royal Australian Mint released commemorative coins to celebrate this same occasion last year.

What are your thoughts? Would you buy a set of commemorative stamps?

Id just buy this for its looks

I know, it’s a really good drawing of the aircraft, almost looks like a photo!

Wait its not a photo?

I’m pretty sure it is a drawing. It could be a heavily edited image though…
