Just a thought, I mean no disrespect. If you are going to close in less than 5 minutes, please don’t give vectors. When a pilot requests vectors to land on a runway at an airport, if you are closing, just say unable, proceed on course.

Well that kinda defeats the point of them being open at all…
First off, thanks for a polite and well-structured and written post, most like this aren’t.
Unfortunately this is impractical and isn’t really a feasable approach for controllers to take. When they close, whilst acting in a reasonable manner to other aircraft around you, you may continue your own navigation when necessary.
Just to add to what Neo said, if another approach controller takes over, your intentions stay on your flight strip, so the next controller knows what to vector you for IE ILS approach or radar vectors etc.
