ATC training server!

2 questions everyone
Please can we have Atc removed on the training server because it’s so annoying they always lead me to the wrong way with bad instructions

Secondly during Atc vector and altitude instruction please what VS should I use for the decent I really make a a lot of mistake with this

A good explanation would be appreciated thanks everyone

Use VNAV but I like to descend between 1000-1600 depending on altitude, speed and plane

Can I use vnav without the gps engaged ??? I’m talking about when vectored by atc

Hello!

Removing ATC on Training Server would not be very beneficial. While yes, I agree that most of the controllers there are not the best, maybe, they are just training (as the server’s name suggests) or, generally speaking, it’s a place where some controllers who would like to become IFATC can train with an ATC Tracking Thread, for example. It is a place to train for the Expert Server, so, you cannot always expect an almost-perfect (or good in general) service as you would expect on the ES.

It depends on various factors, and you can constantly adjust it. If the controller tells you to “Expedite altitude change”, you will need to use a “harsher” (= more steep) V/S, if you need to slow down during the descent, you can reduce your V/S. I’d say a general - 1,000/1,500 ft/min works for descent. On a climb, you rarely receive altitude instructions on IF, but if you do, I’d say to reduce your V/S if you are climbing too fast and are told to maintain a present (or a close) altitude not to overshoot it.

Let me know if you have any other questions! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Above 250 and below 250 what vs is best. ?

I was landing at Dubai and atc told me to defend and maintain 3000 I was doing this with a vs of 1500 on the a380 and the nose was pitched so down!

Yeah, as I said, it really depends on various factors, aircraft used included. I am not an expert about specific aircraft, so, you may want to check out some tutorials which can be found on this forum and made by other IF users. You could practice descents and climbs a bit either on Solo or Casual Server to see what are the best V/S to use in your next flights

1500 v/s is fine it’s not dramatic. ATC will rarely expect you to descend between big altitudes quickly so you won’t need much more than that.

Remember to put your spoilers to ‘flight’ if you worried you arnt slowing down enough at the V/S

I was very close the the beginning of the ils and the Atc on training server said I should decend to 3000ft I was at 14,000ft it was so annoying because there’s so way I will get to 3000ft without having to fly over the runway!

However I must say some of the ATC in the Training Server are excellent, it allows new flyers to also get a hang of how to use ATC aswell, there is some that arent as good but they just trying there best, I find its hit or miss some are amazing some not depends on the day

Most of the time I don’t feel like answering them because they’ve always ruined my flight especially when it’s a long one I won’t like anything to stop me from landing properly

I guess the solution is to work your way up to Grade 3 where you can access Expert Server and have ATC who are trained and know what they are doing.

Just an observation from my side. If you were very close to the ILS “cone” (which means you are probably already in TOWER boundaries), why were you still at FL140?

I have applied for IFATC so I train on the training server.
So I don’t think you could remove atc there

That’s due to the poor atc not allowing me to just follow my flight plan it was so annoying!

If you want a more realistic and professional experience/service with ATC, training server is not the place, unfortunately. I would highly suggest flying on the Expert Server if you meet the Grade 3 requirements where controllers are trained and certified to do so. As previously mentioned, training server cannot be removed as it’s where both new ATC and pilots gain experience before flying on the Expert Server

Exactly my point!

Couldn’t agree more

Now think about some ATC controllers who really want to give a proper approach and the Pilots aren’t listening .

It happens on both sides !
