ATC Takeoff issues with Aircraft On Runway

I had a situation which I was NOT happy with at all. ATC Cleared me for takeoff but they told a Speedbird A320 to be cleared for Takeoff when I was already on the takeoff roll. I cancelled clearance due to SAFETY and I did not want to cause any trouble!! I have not seen this before and now I am filing this incident because I nearly caused a serious incident with an A320. Sadly, I can’t file a report because the ATC has no ties to the Community but I want to make this VERY CLEAR! Once a Plane is on the Runway and you tell an Aircraft to Line up and wait when an Aircraft is on the Runway, you need to hold that other plane before the Takeoff Roll or Have the AIRCRAFT Hold Short!

Was this on training?

If the ATC didn’t have a username - then it would’ve been on Training - as all IFATC on Expert Server need to have their community account linked.

Unfortunately on Training Server a lot of ATC don’t know what they are doing as anyone can be ATC on TS, as such there isn’t much that can be done.

If I understood that correctly, someone behind you was cleared for takeoff as you were on the roll? Assuming the person behind you was holding short, what the controller did was completely fine as long as you are airborne before the person behind starts the takeoff roll. In this case, cancelling your takeoff was wrong.

I clear aircraft holding short for takeoff even when there is still a plane halfway through their takeoff roll, in order to maximise efficiency. As long as the first one is in the air, the second one can start their takeoff. There’s no minimum lateral separation requirements for takeoffs.

As many have mentioned above, this is not a IFATC issue, per the guidelines, the TS incorporates vacant towers which are open to anyone.

Secondly, clearing another aircraft for departure once another is on the takeoff roll, utilizing anticipated departure separation, this is lawful. Especially within high-congestion environments, this is a method known as, “flushing departures.”

Unfortunately, the Aircraft was in front of me on a Different Taxiway and the ATC on the Training Server did not tell me to hold Position until I barely started my takeoff roll. I made the call cancelling my takeoff clearance even when ATC instructed me to. The Aircraft was holding at Runway 27 Left, I was cleared for Takeoff at Runway 27 left. I turned onto the Runway to Line up and wait and then I got Clearance before they cleared that other aircraft for takeoff. I held my Position Immediately when i realized the situation at hand. Yes, this may not be an IFATC issue, but I had to confirm whether I made the right call to cancel takeoff clearance. I may have been a little frustrated with this… But I felt like the safety was my number one priority.

Did it say anything about Aircraft already cleared for Takeoff and then the aircraft ahead at the other Taxiway on my left was on the Runway and I had to cancel my clearance? Because if it did, I would not be impressed with this Intersection Departure. It did not help me as I was already on the Runway about to start my takeoff roll.

This is called the training server.🤯
Its called that for a reason because 90% for controllers dont know what there doing. Every single member of IFATC is connected to the IFC and I would be absolutely astonished if this happened on the expert server.

It happens on the ES regularly, but usually in absence of ATC 😄

Ik im talking about when there IS atc

How fast were you going on the runway when the other aircraft was cleared?

Not very fast. It was at the Very beginning as I was cleared once I was on the Runway. I was going a slow speed before I realized the aircraft was in front of me. I held my position on the Runway as per ATC Instruction and as I had the call to make.

I had a look at the Replay. I saw I was going nearly 30 knots when I had to slow down. ATC Never told me to cancel takeoff clearance. They just said “Hold Position”. I saw the Aircraft on the Runway first and I immediately stopped my takeoff. This was on the Training Server.

As mentioned, its a Training Server so you are going to have a wide range of knowledge and experience amongst controllers as they learn and get to grips with the various commands, traffic volumes, procedures and get used to separation etc etc

You will always have some people who have no intention of learning or doing things properly but that is just part and parcel of being on a training server.

You could try and reach out via the IFC and provide some constructive feedback to help them learn?

No problem. But I did feel like I made the right call cancelling my takeoff when the Aircraft came onto the Runway when I was near 30 knots and I suddenly stopped takeoff. I will always look forward to provide some feedback. Thanks for the Assistance.
