What’s the best way to practice ATC skills. I feel comfortable with Ground controls, somewhat comfortable with Tower, but when it comes to Approach, departures and especially Centre I’m complete clueless. I’ve seen IF videos on YouTube to gain basic skills but still can’t get my head around. Note: so far I got 1500 operations on training server and my ranking is observer.
Hello @DevilChef,
It’s great to see that you’re looking to practice the ATC side of things. I would strongly recommend applying for the IFATC team if you meet the requirements and if you haven’t done so already. You can check out the topic below for more information regarding the IFATC recruitment process:
Once you join the IFATC team and meet the requirements to apply for radar which includes approach, departure and centre controlling, you can then receive training from an IFATC Trainer who will guide you through the necessary skills required of a radar controller.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Take care!
@Declan thank you for your response. I have applied for IFATC. Now revising the resources and learning many things that as a novice ATC I may not have realised.
Good luck on the recruitment process!
Now that I applied for it, the process feels scary.
No worries at all! Good luck on the recruitment process!
I look forward to seeing you join the team soon.
