Hello, out of interest how many hours per shift do Air traffic controlers do in real life?
Usually they do 90 to 120 minute sessions followed by 30-minute breaks. So during an 8 hour shift, they would typically work about 6 hours.
Aha okay thanks!
Good question! Talking to some ATC recently when I got a tour during slow and night hours they do about 45 minutes on and about 30 off to keep them sharp and awake
Your welcome. That’s just at my facility it could be different at others
Are controllers allowed to stack up shifts into doubles in order to reduce the number of calendar days coming in? Just curious.
In some countries. At TAPA, controllers can trade in overtime cash for days off.
