Atc question

I was recieving vectors from approach I forgot the airport, but they were vectoring me in for a landing at 25L I had it programmed in my NAV and I had the auto pilot take me in about 4 miles out approach asked me to contact tower and so I did telling them I was lading at 25L. We’ll I don’t know if they were just being mean or board because there was very little traffic at the airport. But they cleared me to land at runway 25R. I quickly responded to request runway change to 25L but they said no. So I told them I was Going around. They Insisted I land at runway 25R. I Said again go around. I Was about 500 ft above the empty runway 25L and they had the nerve to give me a warning that if I didn’t follow instructions that I would be reported. I quickly ended the flight. If I saw their name I would remember. I just don’t remember off the top of my head. I depress my question is does tower ATC see what runway the plain is assigned to land by approach? I belive atis had bothered 25L and 25R as arrival runways.

Was this on the expert server?

Go to your replay files and you’ll see the airport you were at. Can’t really tell which airport you are referring to as there’s lots of airports with runway 25 R/L configurations

Depends on the amount of traffic when you were landing - you’ll not always get the runway you had planned for if the traffic is busy on one particular runway.

Edit: Also, you’ll be able to find the controller’s name in the COM1 panel of the replay. Reach out to them via DM to see why they were giving you that runway.

Another thing. Why were you requesting 25L so much and going around when you didn’t get your runway? Why did you not go with the one ATC was giving?.

Not sure why would the ATC do that btw It’s quite easy to change runways all you need to add is the new approach and the autopilot will automatically arm the selected ILS and ignore the previous one this also works at the start of the ILS once you’ve captured too. The best use case is if you’re not able to maintain the separation of your aircraft ahead. Remember it’s a tip not directly related to your topic though.

In such cases it is always best to dm the atc controller and he might explain the reasons to you.

Nevertheless it is all about realism here in IF and nothing is more realistic than getting assigned a different runway from what you have filed in your flightplan. That happens constantly in real life aviation.

In real life aviation a big variety of reasons can lead to a new rwy assignment, such as they need to clean the runway from some debris or parts which a plane might have lost, or the need to repair some lights or whatever.
ATC might explain to the pilot why a specific runway is not used, but they don’t have to. Imagine ATC in heavy workload need to explain to every pilot why this or that is not possible.

So taking this reality into IF means, it can also happen that you get a different runway from what you expected and it’s part of the aviation reality and part of the pilots’ obliged knowledge how to enter a new runway configuration on final.

But like I said, if you have questions about the decision of ATC it is best to send the controller a polite private message and like above already mentioned you can see in your replay who was the controller in charge.

Yes it was.

When they responded I was at 1000ft

Wow, I did NOT think you were that close. so you had no chance to course correct then… so a go around was the only option.

Based on the context provided by the OP, the approach controller did set him up for runway 25L. It becomes counterproductive for one controller to vector into 25L while another insists on 25R, as this essentially disrupts the approach vectors established by the approach controller, especially if the runways are not located close to each other.

with the context it seems kind of weird, I’d say grab the user of tower controller and clarify with them. Might’ve been a genuine mixup between them and the approach controller or vice versa.

I’ve experienced the same scenario a few weeks ago, don’t remember the atc tho.
