How should I practice on training server? There are not a lot of planes coming in or out.

I would recommend an airport that has not less traffic and not too much traffic (e.g. KJFK). You can also try EGLL, although I wouldn’t recommend unless you can handle a lot of chaos.

Usually all the time, but the peak time at the TS is from 2000Z to 2200Z

Yeah I’ve noticed that, over the years less and less people flying or active on the training server. The most important thing is understanding ATC commands and knowing how to communicate properly. Even without active ATC, you can still use the unicom for basic communication such as announcing your intentions and location accurately to everyone on the unicom. And when there is active ATC, you can practice more complex commands and communication such as approaches, vectoring, speed and altitude management, and even self-inflicted go-around scenarios to be best prepared for that not so rare event when it happens on the expert server. The airports that most often have active ATC on the training server, from my knowledge, are EGLL, KLAX, KJFK, WSSS, LFPG, YSSY, KSFO, EHAM, EDDF, and even smaller/less popular airports sometimes like Indian airports or east-asian airports.

Sometimes when I am controlling an approach in training people do not follow my vectors. That makes no sense. Why would they even contact ATC?

Oh, did I misunderstand that you were addressing this issue as a controller? I assumed you meant as a pilot in training.

From a controllers perspective, unfortunately there’s nothing you can do other than correctly instruct and manage air traffic (in the training server). There are certain commands such as telling pilots who wrongly taxi without permission to not do so, or reminding instructions such as having been already instructed to change frequency.
