Hi there! Trying to get some guidance on how to join an Infinite Flight ATC channel on Discord (as a pilot). I read that the links aren’t public to keep everyone safe. Anyone that does ATC through Discord care to get in touch?

I don’t believe ATC via discord is permitted, but I may be wrong. A moderator should be able to clarify.

I think this should only be done on Training Server
Went through the forum looking for VATC and I guess it’s not allowed. BAVA has an exception as they stated VATC before the rule.

As said above, VATC is banned, but if you were in a closed group still using basic unicom away from IFATC controlled areas, using ATC via Discord should be fine, as long as it isn’t publicly advertised on the IFC. Some good events were closed because of this recently.
Yeah then how come BAVA get to have VATC saying “They had it before the rule” is about the worst excuse ever. Just because it was before the rule doesn’t mean they are exempt from the rule. Say if people were doing something illegal then a law was created to stop people from doing that thing then not punishing people who keep doing this because they were doing it “before the rule”

This is known as “ex post facto” law and is a massive legal obstacle, and is probably what was applied in this case.
Pretty sure bava have a VATC event once every month.

I agree. It’s like they are exempt from the rule, and it’s just a breeze for them. If it’s a rule for the IFC or people to not do it, then why can BAVA do it? It’s the most daft excuse I’ve ever heard.
So why can’t any other VA do it?
They also do it on Expert Server, so even worse, and I was in BAVA before, and some pilots didn’t use Unicom when in the event.
