A few days ago, In expert server Mumbai airport had live ATC. I did everything normally like taxi, takeoff etc. But I wanted to fly to Dubai. But just after takeoff I realised I didn’t have enough fuel for the whole flight. Hence I contacted ATC Again and requested to land from an active runway (27). "Chhatrapati Shivaji airport, Emirates 85 is 18 nautical miles north of juhu at 15,500 feet, inbound for landing. ATC said, “Emirates 85 pattern work is not accepted at this time please divert to a suitable airport.” I repeat specifying I want to land. The resend the same message. By then u was almost out of fuel. And I got a level two violation for “failing to divert.” I don’t know whose fault it is so can someone please help me?
You should have checked before departing if you had enough fuel.
In my point of view you should have diverted because there was no pattern work allowed.
Hello! follow the link below
From an ATC perspective - it looked like you’d taken off and left the airspace only to request landing again - which is frowned upon at the main hub airport when there is no pattern work allowed - as @Airbus18 mentioned you should’ve checked that you had enough fuel prior to taking off.
Ok thanks for the help everyone!
I had barely enough fuel to reach any other airport
Mumbai was my only option
if you had little fuel i think a mayday call pops up in the atc menu which you can use to let ATC know that you need to land immediately
This only appears once you have been flying for a minimum of 1 hour and have less than 30 minutes of fuel remaining.
ahhh I didn’t know the 1hr minimum flight time. Thanks!
Should have made a new flight plan with destination VABB and the asked to divert
IFATC can literally see where you’ve flown. So even if you change your FPL to look like you’ve flown from elsewhere, we can see that you took off from the same airport.
