When using ATC at busy airports the pannel flashes and makes it difficult to ask permissions or give responses. Is this a server issue or an issue with my ASUS tablet?
Hello!
Not sure exactly what you mean, what panel is flashing that shouldnât? You wouldnât have a picture or video?
Does the panel usually flash on and off?
I would recommend checking your wifi first. It does happen when your device is extremely slow.
The panel Iâm talking about is the question and response panel that pops up when using ATC. Itâs on the left side of the screen when the radio/microphone is pushed. Will send video next time it happens.
NoâŚonly at busy airports.
Let me try and understand what you are saying. When you open the ATC panel, it flashes open and closed? If itâs only happening at big airports, itâs possible itâs your settings. Turn everything down and then try again. Performance is a possible cause for this.
Does the whole panel flash? Or what exactly is happening? Are you saying the whole panel is flashing in the same way the headset are when getting a command from ATC?
Yes thatâs rightâŚI will adjust my settings and see if that helps. Thank You.
This is probably your tablet. When I had the Galaxy S5, the same happened to me. I have got the Galaxy S8 now and that doesnât happen anymore.
If youâre talking about as a pilot, remember that there are some things for which youâll see a flashing headset but have nothing to acknowledge. This happens whenever ATC sends a broadcast message (e.g. âexpect delaysâ, ârequest takeoff when first in lineâ, âclosing in 5 minutesâ, etc).
The reason you see it at busy airports is coincidence, not causation.
The busier the airport, the more likely the controller will have to announce expect delays or consistently say âstop asking for takeoff when you can clearly see youâre 8th in line youâŚahemâ. Anyway, if thatâs what youâre talking about, thatâs why it flashes.
If youâre talking about something on the ATC side, we need a less-vague description.
I can confirm what shrek1 says. I encounter the same thing sometimes on busy airports. What happens is for example when you want to answer ATC, you open the communication window and the window and the text in it starts to shiver. It seems a bit like you want to try to read a book on a bumpy road.đ
I am talking as a pilot and itâs the panel of requests/ instructions that Iâm talking about. I believe itâs my tablet that is causing the issue.
Thank You.
Can we get more of a device description?
@Shrek1 I asked you earlier to turn down the settings. Did it work?
Just reduce the airplane count to low and anti aliasing off. Should do the trick. Happened with me too.
ASUS ZenPad 8.0. It has 2 gigs of RAM so it should be ok. I did adjust my settings and it has worked for now. I am looking to upgrade device soon. Thanks for the help!
Awesome! Be sure to check the correct solution so that this can be closed. Glad I could help
